COMMONWEALTH GAMES 2010-A CONTROVERSY
Last week, I had been in Delhi in connection with Trial Games(National Federation Cup) for the swimming events for the Commonwealth Games 2010. As a Technical Official, it was very good experience-from boarding,food to ambiance and premises of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Swimming Pool(Talkatora Stadium). The work is under construction and hope it will be completed in next few weeks. But I doubt the outer area (Park and Gardens)of the stadium will be completed till October. However,nothing is impossible if the Govt. decide to complete.
But personally, I think the CWG should have been organised in other place,not in proper Delhi. Because Delhi is already developed city and the construction work for CWG ruined the traffic system. Other nations use mega-events to regenerate underdeveloped urban land.The IOA and the Govt only give central Delhi more attention-and road works-than it deserves.
But apart from all controversy,we should not be agree with Aiyar's unhappiness if the Games were successful otherwise IOA and Associates will bring the Asian Games and the Olympics.
